High School

High School (9^th—12^th Grades)

All students who are enrolled in the New Horizons Home School Academy high school level educational curriculum are placed on the Distinguished Achievement Program for completion which requires a total of 24 Credits for graduation. These credits will consist of:

• English (4 Credits Total) - One credit for each high school English subject given as English I, English II, English III, and English IV, and with subjects ranging from a study in comprehensive grammar to parts of speech to American Literature and World Literature to writing-based language skills.
• Mathematics (4 Credits Total) - One credit per completion of each of the following High School mathematics: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus.
• Science (4 Credits Total) - One for each of the subjects of Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, and Chemistry.
• Social Studies (4 Credits Total) - One credit each for World Geography, American Government, World History, Economics, and Sociology.
• Health/Wellness (1 Credit Total) - Addresses subjects such as personal health and fitness, safety and emergency care, consumer health, and more.
• Speech (.5 Credits Total) - A study of the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and produce communication in a variety of forms.
• Fine Arts (1 Credit Total) - Students are given the option to study one of: Art, Photographic Journalism, Graphic Arts, or other related subjects.
• Foreign Language (3 Credits Total) - Languages offered include Spanish, French, Sign Language, Italian, and Japanese.
• Technology (1 Credit Total) - Students may elect from several technological programs offered that are designed to develop or improve computer skills while learning other skills.
• Elective (.5 Credits Total) - Elective courses available include subjects such as Typing, Journalism, Digital Editing, etc.
